LLC "Ural diesel-engine plant" isa large domestic manufacturer of high-capacity diesel power units for locomotives, ships, small power plants. Located in the city of Yekaterinburg. Included in the group of companies "Sinara".

Historical reference

The foundation of the Ural diesel-engine plant(UDMZ) is associated with the Great Patriotic War. In 1941 the Kharkov plant No. 75 and the motor site of the Kirov (Leningrad) plant were evacuated to Yekaterinburg. On their basis the production of tank power units В2-34 was based.

After the war, UDMZ specialized in the production ofpowerful unique engines of the DM-21 series. They were used on BelAZ trucks, specialized equipment (in particular, in tractors of ChTZ T-800 with pulling force of 75 tons), in power plants. In the 90's mastered the manufacture of diesel engines for ships.

Entering the Ural diesel-engine plant inthe structure of the group of companies "Sinara" (2008) contributed to the modernization of production facilities, the opening of new workshops, attracting investment. Designing new motors

Within the framework of the target federal program, the enterprise signed a contract with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to produce basic samples of high-speed diesel engines of a new generation.

A short time was organizedproduction site for the release of components and components, as well as the assembly of power units. In addition to the specialists of the Ural diesel-engine plant, the Central Research Institute of Diesels, MSTU, Ufa, the German engineering company FEV took part in the development. In total, more than one hundred designers, 30 engineers are involved in the project, investments exceeded 2 billion rubles. Such fruitful cooperation made it possible to implement advanced engineering solutions in the design.

Specifications

At the moment, the DM-185 family has 9models of engines with a wide range of power characteristics (from 1000 to 4000 kW) and 7 diesel generators. The number of cylinders varies from 6 to 20, depending on the modification and the field of application. In the future, the maximum power of some models is planned to be increased to 6000 kW.

Production

The first high-speed 12-cylinder enginediesel application of the 12DM-185T was assembled in October 2014. A month later he was subjected to comprehensive tests that showed compliance with the required characteristics.

Next on the Urals diesel engine plantassembled 16-cylinder modification 16DM-185T2 with a two-stage turbo-supercharging capacity of 3740 kW. The power unit is intended for use in diesel locomotive building. In July 2015, the engine much needed by Russian engineering was presented to the Prime Minister, DA Medvedev, at the "Innoprom" forum.

In parallel, there was work on the 12DM-185A motor forcareer dump trucks-giants BelAZ. This project has broad prospects within the framework of interstate cooperation of the countries of the Customs Union. It is designed to reduce dependence on foreign quarry equipment and imported components.

Production complex

At the Ural diesel-engine plantlarge-scale modernization program. The old production buildings were repaired outside and inside. The equipment is partially replaced, the testing station is updated. Created 100 highly skilled jobs.

The pride of the plant was a modern site forassembly, running DM-185 engines and diesel generators, temporary storage of products. High-precision measuring complexes for monitoring the parameters of engine components are mounted here.

In the experimental assembly area,universal stands for the manufacture of power units. Multiton products can easily be moved around the shop using air-cushioned transport systems controlled by one worker.

Test station

The quality of the assembled motors is checked on unique automated stands. Modern equipment was introduced during the reconstruction of the testing station. It:

• Engineering block, located near the production and testing sites.
• Research stand for 1-cylinder engines up to 408 kW.
• Stands of functional and resource tests for engines and generators with a power of 3000-4000 kW.

Ural diesel-engine plant: feedback

Planters note a decent level of earnings(especially for highly qualified employees), working conditions in the updated sites are comparable to those in European enterprises. The introduction of mechanization and the installation of new equipment facilitated the labor of workers.
