Gennady Seleznev was born on November 6, 1947year in the small town of Serov, in the Sverdlovsk region, in the family of Nikolai Stepanovich Seleznev and Vera Ivanovna Fokina. After school I entered the vocational school, which he graduated in 1964. He did not want to remain a resident of the province. Therefore, he moved to Leningrad, where he worked as a turner at a defense enterprise. And then the guy was drafted into the army.
Returning to the "citizen", Gennady Seleznev,whose biography had not been anything special before, began its journey to the heights. He showed himself to be an active member of the Komsomol and even rose to the head of the Vyborg district committee of the Komsomol, and then replaced the head of the committee at the regional level.
The profession of the turner did not satisfy the ambitious andcapable young man. Therefore Seleznev received another education, graduating from journalism LSU in 1974. In the same year he took the post of deputy editor, and later editor of the newspaper "Smena". The edition was regional. And in it he worked for 6 years.
In the eightieth year Gennady Seleznev was entrustedchair of the deputy head of the propaganda and agitation department of the Central Committee of the Komsomol. In the 2007 elections, Gennady Seleznev went to the Duma from the party "Patriots of Russia", which did not gain enough votes. Departing from political activities, Seleznev in2009 was headed by the Board of Directors of the Moscow Regional Bank. Not participating more in government, he closely watched what was happening in the country. He actively criticized the railway reform, putting forward his proposals, and also tried to contribute to the party building of Russia. His pen has several books on the law and politics of Russia, as well as a number of publications on this topic.
Gennady Seleznev was married to Irina Borisovna Selezneva (nee Maslova). They brought up the only daughter Tatyana, who gave the ex-speaker two granddaughters - Lisa and Katya.
In the last years of his life, Seleznev was seriously ill. All conscious life, being an avid smoker, he periodically suffered from various lung diseases. And in the end, he got cancer. He died on July 19, 2015 in Moscow. He died at home, because the medicine was written in his helplessness, and all that the doctors could do was just anesthetize the process.
