The origin of life - several options

One of the most important issues for many years occupying the minds of scientists and ordinary people is the question of the emergence and development of the diversity of life forms on our planet.

At the moment, theories of the origin of life on Earth can be classified into one of five large groups:

  1. Creationism.
  2. Spontaneous life.
  3. The hypothesis of a stationary state.
  4. Panspermia.
  5. Evolution theory.

Each of the concepts is interesting in its own way andis unusual, so be sure to read them in detail, because the origin of life is a question that every thinking person wants to know the answer to.

the origin of life

Creationism includes traditional beliefs aboutthat life was created by a certain higher being - God. According to this version, the soul is the proof that all life on Earth was created by the higher mind, whatever it is called. This hypothesis originated in very ancient times, even before the founding of world religions, but science still denies the viability of this theory of the origin of life, since the existence of a soul in humans is unprovable, and this is the main argument of creationists' apologists.

The hypothesis of spontaneous generation of lifeappeared in the East and was supported by many famous philosophers and thinkers of Ancient Greece and Rome. According to this version, life can under certain conditions arise in inorganic substances and inanimate objects. For example, in rotting meat, larvae of flies may arise, and tadpoles in wet mud. Such an approach also does not withstand any criticism from the scientific community.

theory of the origin of life

The hypothesis of a stationary state, it seems, appeared along with the appearance of people, because it says that life was not born - it always existed approximately in the state in which it is now.

Mainly this theory is supported by researchpaleontologists, finding ever more ancient evidence of the existence of life on Earth. True, strictly speaking, this hypothesis is somewhat distinguished from this classification, since such a question as the origin of life does not affect it at all.

The hypothesis of panspermia is one of the mostinteresting and controversial. According to this concept, life on Earth was born as a result of the fact that, for example, microorganisms were somehow brought onto the planet. In particular, studies of a scientist who studied meteorites Efremovka and Murchisonsky showed the presence in their substance of fossil remains of microorganisms. However, there is no confirmation of these studies.

The same group includes the theory of paleocontact, saying that the factor that triggered the origin of life and its development was the Earth visit by aliens who brought microorganisms to the planet or even specially populated it. This hypothesis is becoming more widespread in the world.

Finally, one of the most popular scientific theories explaining the origin of life is the hypothesis of the evolutionary appearance and development of the living on the planet. This process is still ongoing.

These are the main hypotheses trying to explainthe origin of life and its diversity. None of them can not yet be unequivocally accepted or rejected. Who knows, maybe in the future people will still solve this riddle?
