The history of C-class cars (Comfortklasse -comfortable class) at first had a weak relation to the emphasis on comfort. This history is customary to describe from the 1900s Mercedes with the factory index W201, which in the far days of their release were the smallest in the lineup of Mercedes-Benz models. In 1924, these experiments successfully completed the chief engineer of the firm "Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft" Ferdinand Porsche creating a car "Mercedes-24/100 / 140PS" with a compressor motor. Subsequently, the compressor was widely used on Mercedes-Benz cars until the end of the Second World War. The most "ardent fan" of the former "compressed Mers" was Adolf Hitler. After the war, the history of the compressor was interrupted until 1995 and resumed in the C-class by creating the famous model Mercedes C200 Kompressor.
