The new suspension, gearbox, steering, brakes, interior, the design of the bodywork and, of course, the modern Niva-Chevrolet engine - GM is able to surprise its Russian consumers. This happened for the first time at the beginning of the two thousandth and is expected again - in 2016, after the beginning of the expected serial production of "Chevy" -2.
At the Moscow motor show that was held in 1998the management of AvtoVAZ presented a new model of the old Niva. It was assumed that this version would replace the old one, but the group did not have enough money for mass production. Then it was decided to sell it to the North American corporation General Motors.
By the beginning of 2002, engineers, designers anddesigners have developed and launched into serial production a completely different car, called "Chevrolet-Niva". The new model favorably differed from its predecessor, which was not subjected to restyling for 24 years.
Initially, it was assumed that the modern versionwill replace the "old lady", but after assessing its provisional cost, it turned out that "Chevy" is almost twice as expensive as its prototype. Despite the fact that many Russians appreciated the domestic SUV "Niva-Chevrolet" with dignity, the price was unattainable for some of them. Thus, the management of AvtoVAZ decided to keep both models, which, incidentally, are popular now.
The modern Niva-Chevrolet engine is adaptedto the 92nd gasoline. The presence of four cylinders completely provides the car with traction in any lifts, despite the fact that the declared equipped weight is 1410 kg, and fully loaded "Shevi" weighs a little less than two tons.
Separately, you can allocate a small fuel consumptioncar - 10.4 liters per 100 km in a mixed type (route - 8.5 liters, the city - 13.9 liters). It should be borne in mind that he has a permanent all-wheel drive for all 4 wheels, implemented through the interaxle-locked differential. It is especially worth noting that at this expense the capacity of the Niva-Chevrolet is sufficient and does not allow us to say that the engine is rather weak.
