Banal will once again tell the reader thatSt. Petersburg is the acknowledged cultural capital of Russia. And besides, Peter can be called an open-air museum, the pearl of the Russian cultural heritage and the "Mecca of art" for tourists, it would be blasphemous not to mention how much this "book" city. A significant role in creating this image was played by "Krupa" - "Krupskaya" Fair, about which we'll talk in this material.
"Krupa" is a book fair in the Cultural Center named after Krupskaya, certainly, is one of the symbols of Petersburg. Many - and indigenous residents, and tourists, it is difficult to assume that it once was not. However, the history of the "Krupskaya" fair began relatively recently - in 1992.
It is difficult to remember or imagine the times whenbooks in stores simply was not. But how can a reader read greedily to books! In the same sixties, people paced the city far and wide in search of second-hand dealers of rare editions, set up clubs of bibliophiles to exchange their values. The first such meeting place in Leningrad was the garden on Liteiny. Activity, in general, was illegal, and new acquisitions literally ruined their owners - they cost 4 or even 5 times their nominal value. Not surprisingly, in the early 70's this place was covered.
Resourceful bibliophiles were looking for newshelter - a garden to them. Marx, "Trumpet", even suburban meetings. In the end, in 1984 in the Palace of Culture. the same K. Marx under the Society of book lovers, a club was established where bibliophiles were able to freely exchange the most expensive. Soon the alternative was the club "Vodokanal", where the book lovers came not only from St. Petersburg, but also from Moscow.
More freedom was felt in the eraThe restructuring, when commercial activity was officially authorized. Bibliophiles then became crowded in Vodokanal - the choice of a new site fell on the Palace of Culture. Krupskaya. As we already mentioned, the relocation happened in 1992. Then "Krupa" was completely different than today - lack of repair, dim lighting ... The scribes from the very beginning put the matter in a serious way - the sale was stationary and, despite all the difficulties, the operating mode of the "Krupskaya" book fair was static.
At a time when the book fair finallythe commercial printing has already started to take up over the state. Bibliophiles with "cereals", educated, risky and modern, did not stay aloof from this process. Therefore, many past and current owners of St. Petersburg publishers - this is the scribes from the "Krupskaya" fair. They knew better than others what is popular among readers, what they are interested in, what books will be sorted out like hot cakes.
Feature "Cereals" is also in the fact that this is the firstbook fair in the country, the first market relations in the book business. Then Moscow became famous "Olympic", bookshops in other Russian cities. Although today "Krupskaya" fair is quite a modern book supermarket, here you can still find islands of the past - trays with books of real bibliophiles. It's not just sellers - these are people who can spend an exciting excursion into the world of the book in a few minutes.
