Now, as for the power source. For a conventional LED desk light, an adapter can be used, in which the output is regulated by a diode, and the output current is set by a resistor. For a more serious lighting fixture, such a power supply is not suitable, since during operation the diode heats up and changes its characteristics, which can lead to the failure of the entire fixture.
