What is death?

What is death? The answer to this question has always interested and attracted a person. And from literary publications dedicated to him, you can make a very decent library. In this case, many books are in the second half of the last century.

And it may already seem to us that if we, suchmodern and cultural, thoroughly familiarize themselves with the works of Moody, and for the future we will glance at the "Tibetan Book of the Dead", then we can easily answer the question of what death is. Is this really so? Maybe, after all, Confucius was right, who once said that since we know little about life there, then what can we know about death itself?

Each of us has his own idea of ​​thisprocess, which is most often formed under the influence of external factors such as culture, society, religion. For modern people, the image of this phenomenon is increasingly becoming television. So, the real death never falls into the media, we see only the result itself - the hostages shot by terrorists, killed in the process of domestic alcoholic quarrel, victims of gang warfare. And only when the inevitable biological end comes to one of the members of our family, do we begin to actively ask ourselves what is death-a huge injustice, an inevitable fate, a relief from suffering, or a transition to a new life as a gift from above? However, the image of death began to be created long before the advent of television. The depiction of scenes of passing away from life involved and artists in their works, and our ancestors in rock paintings.

In the distant past, death had a unitingaspect. So, when one of the members of the community or a tribe died, it was becoming a significant event for everyone - the deceased was escorted by joint rites and rituals. What is death? Then she could wear not only negative character, but also positive - perceived it as the moment of transition to a new, bright, happy life. But this is about the natural care, which in different nations was made to personify in different ways - in the form of an old woman, a woman in a white, beautiful girl, a goddess. And only after the terrible plague epidemics, cholera, smallpox at one time mewed a number of countries, it began to depict with a scythe.

Despite the whole aura of mystery andmysticism, which surrounds people of different times, continents and creeds, such a phenomenon as death, the essence of it has never yet submitted to the inquisitive human mind.

What happens after the death of a person?

To date, there are manytheories that sometimes contradict each other about what awaits us after the onset of death. And philosophers, alchemists, magicians, theologians, and ordinary people at all times pored over the comprehension of the sacred meaning of this question. Some said: "We were there!". Others shouted: "We know!". Still others assured: "We have seen!". But all these stories for some reason differed. What is the matter?

Yes, there are those who with foam at the mouth are ready to share withthe rest of their revelations, based on logical (not more than that) inferences. There are those who have experienced a temporary heart failure and claim to have known death and have seen what is being revealed behind it. There are also those (shamans, magicians, psychics) who often "travel" along the paths of the other world and passed with death to "you." But the overall picture, which would at least have shed a little light on this event, with which life ends, did not work out.

In a literal sense, a person can becomewitness only the biological end of a person dying before his eyes, nothing more. But no one knows for sure what will happen to him after death, where his soul will go (if it exists, of course).

Is it terrible to die? Most likely, we are not afraid so much of death itself, as we simply do not want to believe that after such a long journey, we will disappear from the face of the earth forever.

One philosopher somehow answered the question thus: "Death is happiness for a person, because when he dies, he ceases to be mortal ...".
