Therefore it is not surprising that the Celts had a real cult of wood, and the person who harmed him was severely punished. Even peeling of the bark was considered a crime, for which the guilty one was cut and beaten to the injured tree by the navel, after which the criminal was turned around the trunk, so that the unfortunate's entrails were wrapped around the tree.
