Philharmonia (Kazan) exists since 1937. Initially, she conducted musical and propaganda activities. During the war, artists performed at the front and in hospitals. In 1946, the philharmonic society was named Gabdulla Tukay.
After the war, the artists began to actively tour the country. In the 50s a famous jazz band was created here, led by Oleg Lundstrem. A few years later he was transferred to Moscow.
In 2000 the Philharmonic Hall (Kazan) was reconstructed. Now it is equipped with the latest equipment and is designed for 610 listeners.
The Philharmonic Society conducts educational activities,acquaints listeners and spectators with the national art of Tatarstan and with world classics, organizes music festivals. There is a permanent exposition and there are temporary exhibitions devoted to some thematic events or anniversary celebrations. Evenings of memory are held in the museum. Among the exhibits - documents, posters, archival materials, photographs, baton, scores, autographs, concert costumes, statues, bas-reliefs, printed publications of the Philharmonic performances of employees, paintings, wooden sculptures.
The museum stores audio and video recordings, photographs fromconcerts.
