With the release of the screens in 1977 the first part of the epic "Star Wars", the whole world learned a new word - "Jedi". Thanks to the fantastic success of the tape, these knights, their statute and culture have become incredibly popular. However, only with the release of the "Hidden Threat" in 1999, everyone learned that there are antipodes of the Jedi - these are the Sith. What kind of knights are they, how are they different and what role did they play in the Star Wars universe?
To better understand who these are - the Sith, one should learn more about the world in which they exist.
All the actions of the epic Star Wars occur in a fictional galaxy, which is called - "Galaxy". It consists of hundreds of star systems inhabited by a variety of intelligent races.
In different periods of its existence, managementThe galaxy was carried out in different ways. Initially, there was the Galactic Republic. According to its rules, for a millennium all star systems were run by the Senate. However, thanks to the machinations of Darth Sidious, the Republic was destroyed (Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith), and in its place arose the Empire, which lasted 20 years (the events of the original "New Hope", as well as the "The Empire strikes back," " Return of the Jedi ").
Thanks to the rebels and the family of SkywalkersThe empire was destroyed, and the republican system of government was again established in the Galaxy. But it did not last long - in 30 years the First Order appeared, the members of which advocated the return of the Empire.
Despite the huge number of races and stellarsystems, constantly taking part in wars for power in the Galaxy, the main battles that solved the fate of the whole world, occurred between the followers of the Force - the Jedi and the Sith.
The force in the Galaxy is called the energy field, which is associated with all living beings. Individuals who have special abilities to feel and use the Force can use it to create great things that are impossible for ordinary beings.
Although there were more than ten in the Galaxycults practicing the use of the Force, the most powerful and influential among them were only two. These are the Jedi and the Sith. The Jedi regarded it as their mission to keep peace in the universe and help the weak. For this they used the Bright side of the Universal energy.
But the Sith is the direct oppositethe Jedi. They believed that their goal was to strengthen their power and become the rulers of the Galaxy. To achieve these goals, they used the Dark Side of Energy. Both these knightly orders were constantly at war with each other.
The Sith Order was a branch from the Jedi. It is considered that at a certain moment of the existence of the Order of the supporters of the Light Side of the Force, discontent began to grow among its members. In particular, they wanted to use prohibited practices, and also believed that it was necessary to use the Dark Side of the Force.
Such Jedi were called apostates. Probably, there were many of them, and they tried to raise a riot, but were defeated and banished.
After their expulsion, the renegade Jedi foundshelter on a remote planet Korriban. Its inhabitants-humanoids were called Sith (Sith) and worshiped the Dark Side of the Force. They considered the newcomers to be gods and accepted them with cordiality.
Almost a millennium, the apostates are more or less peacefullived on an enslaved planet. Gradually took the name of the race of the indigenous inhabitants of Korriban, calling itself the Order of the Sith, with its statute and rules.
Unlike the Jedi, their opponents did not aspireto preserve peace in the Republic, and to seize control of it in their hands, which they managed to do by organizing the Empire (the events of the picture "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith").
Like their ancestors, the Sith Order had its own code.
Honoring passion, greed and hatred are the main driving forces for mastering the Dark Side of the Force, the Sith welcomed these qualities and aspirations in their followers.
However, disregard for morality and the desire toto achieve their own profit by any means, on the one hand, made them invincible, and on the other hand weakened them. After all, having mastered the Force, each member of the Order aspired to individual power, fighting against his own comrades. Due to this destructiveness, for many centuries the apostates did not pose a serious threat to the Galaxy.
In ancient times at the head of the Order there was only one Dark ruler. Later there were several, and sometimes much more than two.
Over time, the management system has becomedualistic. At the head of the Order, there were always 2 Sith: a mentor and a disciple. So, in the case of Darth Sidious (who is also Palpatine), he had several students at different times: Darth Maul, Darth Tyranus and the last (beginning with the tape "Star Wars: Episode: Revenge of the Sith") by Darth Vader.
After the death of Palpatine and Vader, the sovereignty of the Sith was destroyed, just as the Empire created by them. But later they managed to revive under the name "First Order".
Like the Jedi, as well as the apostates, the main weapon was the lightsaber. At the same time, in the canonical version, among the followers of the Light Side of the Force, the blade glowed green, and their opponents had a red color.
The main reason for this difference was the crystal, used to produce a light sword. So, the Jedi made it from materials of natural origin. But the apostates are made of artificial crystals.
In the original film trilogy of George Lucas, the term"Sith" was mentioned only as part of the title of Darth Vader, and even then only in the script. In this case, the character himself was not positioned as a Sith, but as a Jedi apostate, or the Dark Jedi.
Later, there was a need to give a name to the Orderapostates, especially given that they played a key role in the destruction of the Republic and the emergence of the Empire. And in 1999, with the release of the film "The Hidden Menace", the term "Sith" was first used in it.
Later they appeared in the animated series of the franchise, as well as the following parts of the trilogy: "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith".
After reviewing the history of the appearance of the Sith, andfeatures of their philosophy, it is worth paying attention to what role they played in the epic Star Wars. To do this, it is worth remembering the events that preceded the fall of the Republic and the appearance of the Empire.
10 years before the start of the Clone Wars, which is called the "Rise of the Empire", the Republic is in crisis. The indecisiveness and venality of many members of the Senate, as well as the growing power of the Trade Federation - all this greatly weakened the Republic and provoked the beginning of various wars between different planets and entire systems.
The Jedi who try to keep the peace inGalaxy, suspected that behind the events is the revived Order of the Sith. They turn out to be right, as the actions of representatives of the Trade Federation are deftly manipulated by the new Dark Lord, Darth Sidious, and his disciple Darth Maul.
Almost the entire plot of the "Hidden Threat"focuses on the Sith attempts by the hands of the Federation to capture the planet Naboo, which is quite influential in the Galaxy. To prevent this, the Jedi Obi-Wan and his mentor Qui-Gon save the queen of the planet Padme Amidala and try to escape.
Because of the ship's breakdown, they board a neutral(regarding the opposition of the Republic and the Federation) to the planet Tatooine, where they get acquainted with young Anakin Skywalker. The boy helps them fix the ship. The Jedi feel that there is a great deal of potential in relation to the possession of the Force. Therefore, they take Anakin with them and, despite the disapproval of many members of the order, decide to make him a Jedi.
There, on Tatooine, the Jedi face Darth Maul. A little later, during the battle for Naboo, they have to fight this Sith. At the cost of his life, Qui-Gon kills him.
Having liberated Naboo and having dealt with the invaders, members of the Senate and the Jedi celebrate the victory and bury Qui-Gon. At the same time, they doubt that the dead Sith was a real Dark Lord and realize that the main battle is yet to come.
Ten years after the battle for Naboo in the RepublicA civil war is brewing. The Jedi have reason to believe that the Sith is to blame for everything. Star wars in the Galaxy are provoked by the new disciple of the Dark Lord, Darth Tyranus. With its submission, many planets tend to withdraw from the Republic.
In addition, Padmé is in danger. To protect her, an adult Anakin is sent to her. Spending a lot of time together, young people fall in love with each other. Together with Obi-Wan, they are at the very center of the uprising organized by the Sith. Only the army of clones sent by the Senate saves them.
Thus begins the Clone Wars (armed confrontation between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, provoked by the Order of the Departed).
This episode begins with the fact that it's already been the third year since the beginning of the Clone Wars. Padmé becomes a senator, secretly marries Anakin and is already pregnant with him.
Meanwhile, the matured Jedi suffers from nightmares, in which he sees the death of his wife. Around his attempts to save her, and concentrated the whole plot of the picture "Revenge of the Sith"
Skywalker's intrigues are inclined to his sideLord of the Sith - Darth Sidious, successfully hiding under the mask of the Chancellor of the Republic - Palpatine. It was he who provoked the young man to murder Darth Tiranus. Using the Dark Side of Power for this action, Anakin gradually succumbs to her fears and betrays the Jedi, participating in their extermination.
With the help of deft manipulations, as well asthe use of secret code to activate the program of subordination to Sidious, the army of the Republic moved to the side of the Sith. Without the support of the Jedi, the Senate and all its members were in the hands of the insurgents.
Obi-Wan and Padmé find Anakin and try to bring him back to the Bright side. But their efforts are in vain.
Entering the battle with Obi-Wan, Anakin was disfiguredand in despair became a student of Sidious - Darth Vader. Together they led the newly formed Empire. At the same time, Anakin continued to consider himself responsible for the death of Padme.
Meanwhile, she was rescued by Obi-Wan. But yearning for Anakin, she died during childbirth. The newborn twins Luke and Leia were separated and hidden in different parts of the Empire. And the survivors Obi-Wan and Yoda were forced to hide, because all the Jedi and their teachings were declared outside the law of the Empire. On this sad note, the third episode of "Star Wars" - "Revenge of the Sith" was coming to an end.
In the original trilogy, the events of which are chronologically unfolding after the "Revenge of the Sith", Jedi apostates are not mentioned. But they appear in the "Awakening of Power".
According to the plot of this tape, the organizationThe Jedi Apostate is gaining strength again in the Galaxy under the name of the First Order. Her new leader - the creature of an unknown race named Snouk - becomes the teacher of Leah's son - Kylo Ren. This young man, like his grandfather, chose the path of the Sith and now hunts for Luke Skywalker in order to permanently destroy all Jedi in his person.
As in the future the fate of the First Order will develop, it will be known in the new scenes of the epic.
But now fans can read many books from this series. By the way, after the release of each film based on the script, separate novels were published.
Also, there are countless fanfics written by fans of the epic Star Wars.
"The War of the Sith", "The Gray Sith", "Their Mysteries", "Choice""Apostate: The Third Party of the Force", "I beg" - this is only a small list of Russian-language amateur works, in which the main characters are the Sith.
