Above the Subpolar Urals a mountain rises,a bear-like paw with claws unfolded to the sky, or just a dissected crest. Whatever it was, this natural landmark with its impressive size is very romantic and attractive.
It is the majestic Manaraga - the most beautiful peak of the Subpolar Urals.
Manaraga from the Komyatsky language translates as"Seven-headed" (from "Sizimyura": the word "sizim" - seven, and the word "jur" is the head), and "multi-headed" ("una" - a lot). In addition, the name of the peak is formed from two words of the Nenets: "mana" and "raha", translated respectively as "bear's front limb" and "like". Although in fact the crest of the mountain is simply unusually dissected.
The peculiar form of the mountain, rather severe climate and a great distance from the settlements give this area a mythical and mysterious look.
Manaraga is a mountain that is one of the most picturesque and highest peaks of the Urals.
It is located in a remote and remotezone of the Komi Republic. The size and appearance of this natural site are really impressive. It was not until the opening of the new mountain called Narodnaya that it was considered the highest peak of the Ural Mountains.
Mount Manaraga (its height is 1663 meters)in shape represents a strongly dissected crest with 7 large "gendarmes" (peaks, teeth, teeth). From a close distance, the top looks like a fortified wall with towers, located amphitheater.
The mountain belongs to "Yugyd-Va" (in the Republic of Komi national park). Next to it towering mountains: no lesser in height Belfry and the highest peak of the Urals - the city of Narodnaya.
And yet the most unique and original of them is Manaraga (mountain).
In connection with the location of the summit on the site of the national park, travelers should register with his administration.
Before you have to get to the station Pechora by trainor Inta, and then move to the mountain on an all-terrain vehicle that can be rented. And still it is possible to receive the certain assistance at transfer on own automobile-off-road car.
There is also an option for a hike, but this requires a good physical preparation of the whole group. People with weak physical data can use the option of helicopter throwing.
It should be remembered to travelers that the way to the mountain of Manaragi passes by the reserve of Pechoro-Ilychsky, where the entrance for strangers is closed.
It would seem that Manaraga - the mountain is not tooExtreme: the simplest category of difficulty (1B-2B), relatively low. But there is one stunning fact: sometimes even some professionals are not able to climb it. The mountain is simply unpredictable and at times "does not start up."
The easiest way is to climb the right "finger" of the bear's paws, but to raise to the highest point (the second "claw" on the right) one must have special skills and have climbing equipment.
In any case, given the harsh local climate conditions, good physical preparation and skill will be useful even for a simple hiking trip with a tour of the area.
Even the hottest summer in these places has a changeable weather. But a convenient and favorable period for a hike uphill are the months from July to August.
A hike to the foot of the mountain can last one day, and climbing to the peaks takes several days depending on luck in terms of the accompanying weather.
Until 1927, until it was established(researcher AN Aleshkov) that the peak of Narodnaya is the highest in the Ural Mountains, the main mountain here was Manaraga, which was 200 meters below the newly opened. Despite this, its isolation gives it mysticism, mystery and majesty.
Mount Manaraga is perceived in these places as the queen of the Subpolar Urals.
With this amazing place, there are manycurious legends and stories about the unusual, some kind of supernatural origin of the mountain. The location of Manaragi was most often associated with a mysterious northern country called Hyperborea. Even Aristotle and Herodotus wrote about the Ripeye (Ural) mountains.
About this distant northern country with lands tohalf a year covered with snow, the tops with rustling forests and the wonderful birds and miraculous beasts living in them also narrated the songs of the Mahabharata (the ancient Indian epic).
Manaraga is a mountain with another legend, whose peak is the burial place of the giant Svyatogor - the epic hero and defender of the Russian land, who did not find use of his unprecedented power. The earth could not withstand it because of the gravity of the body, in connection with which he wandered through strange mountains and boasted that he could easily knock down a pillar that supports the sky and in this way mix everything on earth with the heavenly. And when the giant nevertheless tried to raise the bag with the "earthly thrust," he immediately went to the ground to his knees and burst the veins in his body from the strain. So Svyatogor found his death in these places, and a small sum of money still stands still.
Manaraga is a mountain to which Mansi and Zyryans, wandering through the vast territories of Yugyd-Va, treated always respectfully, as to the shrine, considering it also alive. The mountain was only accessible to the guardians of the clan and the shamans.
In the XI century of our era in ancient civilizations there werecreated a kind of ritual ceremonies. All of them had one goal - to find a common language with Mount Manaraga. It was at that time that the sanctuaries found by archaeologist explorers with sacrificial stones in the forests and on the ridges of the parts of the Yugyd-Va Park belong.
All these rituals were aimed at at least a little to predict the mood of the mysterious mountain, at least to manage the processes taking place in these places.
Similar pagan rituals are evident today. Many tourists believe that in this way you can somehow appease Manaraga, and therefore - safely conquer the summit.
Although the mountain Manaraga is not so high forclimbers, annually, many fans of ascent rush to these regions to conquer the "Queen" of the Subpolar Urals. And not every climber decides to take such a brave step.
Like the claws of "bear paw"visitors who do not need to take risks. Since ancient times it is known that even experienced hunters have not all decided and do not risk climbing to dangerous mountain ranges until now.
It is more appropriate to say that Manaraga does not obey - it is ascended. And it happens that they do not ascend.
But even if Manaraga "does not allow" himself, inAnyway people leave from here enriched with unforgettable impressions. There is something in everything around that attracts, fascinates and affirms the strength and power of nature.
