Since 1991 it is a republic (with the capital city of Vladikavkaz), which has the flag of Ossetia and the coat of arms. The new name is the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. The territory it occupies is 8000 square kilometers, and the population is 709,900 people.

Symbols of statehood
