The Fine Arts of Ancient Egypt

Fine art of Ancient Egypt could not do without the use of clean and bright colors. Reliefs and sculptures, architectural structures, walls - everything was decorated festively and "sonorous".

Fine art of Ancient Egypt, developing, intensified the interest of artists in animals, landscapes, plants, reproduction of any everyday scenes. With the strengthening of the realistic human image in the images of the pharaoh and his relatives, a pronounced similarity of the portrait with the original appeared.

Paints were used by Egyptian minerals. White paint was extracted from limestone, black from soot, green from grated malachite, red from red ocher, yellow from yellow ocher. To obtain a blue paint used copper, cobalt, grated lapis lazuli.

The coloring on the walls in the temple of Queen Hatshepsut has survived to this day.

Fine art of Ancient Egypt wasamazingly permeated by the rhythm of life. Particular attention deserves skits from everyday life. The Egyptians portrayed real events without inventing anything.

Ancient Egyptian artists possessed uniqueabilities to convey the beauty of nature and life, using the mathematical calculation and quivering of one's heart. Sculptors, architects, artists of this ancient country distinguished the holistic view of the world around and the finest sense of harmony. All this reflected the art of Egypt. Painters sought to express their skills in each individual work, along with it, striving for synthesis - creating a single architectural ensemble.

In the period from 30 to 24 centuries BCThe fine arts of Ancient Egypt are distinguished by restraint and calm clarity. This is clearly seen, for example, in the images in the tomb in Medum. Painting the walls, ancient Egyptian artists used the technique on a dry surface.

In the 21-18 centuries. BC. painters try to overcome established compositional patterns. In the murals that adorn the walls of temples and tombs, majestic friezes are replaced by more freely grouped scenes, and the applied paints become more transparent and more tender. Painting is carried out by tempering technology (mixed dry powder paints) on dry ground. At the same time, artists use that thick, sometimes insignificant, color overlay, some contours are seen very sharply, and some are barely perceptible. This allows you to give some ease still flat silhouettes. The hunting scene on the banks of the Nile is considered one of the most remarkable paintings created in this era.

The first and most important sources of narrativeabout music - these are ancient Egyptian texts. To these testimonies, of course, is the image of music playing scenes, the musicians themselves, their instruments.

Throughout the existence of the state all the religious rites were accompanied by music. At the same time, the duties of the priests included singing, playing the lute and harp.

Fine Arts and Music of the AncientEgypt is closely connected with each other. When assessing these spheres of culture, a certain contradiction attracts attention. With a sufficiently large number of represented musicians, which indicates a fairly wide distribution of music among various sections of society, there is almost no evidence of musical notations. According to researchers, this is due to a certain ban. However, some records related to the musical system were found in the texts of the New and Middle Kingdoms.

The study of ancient papyri, bas-reliefs of tombs and other sources testifies to the great importance of painting and musical art in the cultural, ritual life of the ancient Egyptian people.
