Minsk Ice Palace on Pritytsky - the largest sports complex in Belarus

One of the largest sports complexes in theMinsk and Belarus in general is the Minsk Ice Palace on Pritytsky, 27. During its existence it has become a real cultural center of the Belarusian capital.

History

The ice palace at Pritytsky was opened in February1999. Its official name is the Cultural and Sports Unitary Enterprise "Minsk Ice Palace of Sports". Initially, the construction of the sports complex was financed by the hockey club "Tiwali", but after reducing the funds the facility was completed by the state for the purpose of sports and cultural development of the young inhabitants of Minsk.

His arena for a long time was the officialhome arena "Keramin" - local hockey club. In 2004, the junior world championship matches took place here among the divisions. In 2012-2013 in the Ice Palace on Pritytsky the matches of the team "Youth-Minsk" in the Higher Hockey League were held. After some time the club moved to the arena of another Minsk sports complex - "Chizhovka".

The main task of the sports complex is to holdcompetitions in ice hockey, short track, figure skating and other ice sports. However, at the present time there are also competitions in gymnastics, weightlifting, boxing, martial arts and other sports. The stands of the Ice Palace can simultaneously accommodate up to two thousand spectators.

The hockey box can be transformed into ascene, so the Ice Palace can hold concerts (for example, in October 2007, the Scottish rock band Nazareth performed here) and other events.

How to get there

It is very convenient to get to the Ice Palace - near the Pushkinskaya and Sportivnaya metro stations (within 1 km), a little further - Molodezhnaya and Grushevka (2-3 km).
