"Ultima ratio regum" in Russian translation -"The last argument of kings". These Latin words began to be minted on cannon still in the time of Cardinal Richelieu, but even today they can be seen on the trunks of quite modern guns. The past centuries have not changed the meaning of this winged expression: when all arguments in the dispute between the two states have been exhausted, the last method of persuasion is the armed force.
Technical characteristics of such artisanalweapons depend on the design talents and the degree of "bloodthirstiness" of its creator (or customer). It is enough for someone to have a homemade pneumatic gun that shoots plastic bullets (balls) and has a more psychological than a killer effect. Such weapons are based on the principle of pneumatics, that is, there is no combustion reaction of a certain amount of propellant - the charge is pushed outward by the force of compressed air. But the homemade pistol "Melkashka", intended, as the name suggests, for firing small-caliber ammunition, it is quite possible to equate to a weapon of dangerous lethal effects. There are also such "craftsmen" that create designs of monstrous caliber, size and appearance, like those that can be seen in fantastic action films. But on closer inspection this iron monster is nothing more than a homemade pistol. Such mechanisms pose a threat primarily to their owner, and that's why. First, the illegal manufacture of firearms (as well as storage, sale and the like) is a serious offense. Secondly, even the most ingenious gunsmith will not be able to assemble a reliable design in the handicraft conditions, the "homemade" manufacture of ammunition is a special danger. There is no guarantee that at the first shot the homemade gun will not break into pieces, causing serious damage to the gunner, or even depriving him of life.
From all that has been said, it is clear thata specific type of weapon, like a homemade gun - a troublesome business, risky, and simply illegal. Its effectiveness is extremely low, it is not necessary to speak about the moral side. And because the proud royal motto on the "trunk-samopal" would look extremely inappropriate.
