Prognathia is the deformation of the jaw: diagnosis and treatment

To date, dentistsrevealed a large number of different deformations of the jaw, due to which there is a lot of problems with the health and appearance of a person. One of such deformations of the jaw is prognathia. This is a condition in which the upper jaw hangs over the lower jaw. If, on the contrary, the lower jaw protrudes forward, then this deviation will be called progeny. There are many cases where both of these diseases are superimposed on each other.

Main causes of development

Prognathia is a disease that can be accompanied by many different factors. Consider the most common of them:

- Constant nasal congestion and breathing through the oral cavity. As a result, the jaw begins to stretch forward.

prognathia is

- Development of various diseases of the jaw apparatus, which occur even during breastfeeding.

- The child has such bad habits, like sucking a finger, lower lip. This can contribute to the extension of the lower teeth.

- The jaw will be formed incorrectly, if the baby has an incorrect posture, and he walks with his head down.

- Consequence of diseases associated with bone tissue.

- Very early removal of milk teeth.

As you can see, basically, prognathia is a disease that begins to develop in childhood.

The main varieties of this disease

There are several basic forms of prognathia, which will be described below.

The first form. This deformation is formed as a result of incorrect development of the lower jaw. In this case, the upper pathology does not.

In the second form, the opposite is true. The lower jaw is developed normally, while the upper jaw is underdeveloped.

The third form is characterized by the presence of deformations immediately in both jaws.

When the fourth form is slightly squeezed forward front upper teeth (usually deuces and ones).

Symptoms of the disease

Prognathia is a pathology that has this symptomatology:

- The middle part of the face is very prominent in the sick person. The lower lip is shortened, and the muscular tissues of the mouth are in a state of tension all the time.

- The upper teeth noticeably extend beyond the oral cavity, biting the lower lip. This condition is characterized by the fact that the patient can not completely close his mouth.

- Another sign of this disease is a large gap between the upper front teeth, as well as their crowding.

Main symptoms

How can a patient understand that he hasis a disease like jawburning? Everything depends on the individual characteristics and the form of the disease itself. Most often, patients complain of such inconveniences:

- it is very difficult to bite the food, because the incisors protrude very strongly;

- in some cases serious difficulties arise with the speech apparatus;

- difficulty in mouth breathing;

- the oral cavity is reduced in volume, therefore the patient can not thoroughly chew food.

How to correct this effect

The lower prognathia, just like the upper one, need to be adjusted even in childhood. If the bite is already completely formed incorrectly, then correcting this defect will not be so easy.

Therefore, try to see in advance the child's bad habits, such as sucking foreign objects. At the initial stage of the disease, the doctor will be able to correct the bite of still infant teeth.

the upper

To correct this pathology, the following methods are actively used:

- sanation of the nasopharynx and mouth;

- special compressive bandages that stop the processes of improper formation of the jaw;

- instruments-activators, capable of suspending the development of the upper jaw, and, conversely, stimulating the upper;

- In some cases, Frenkel's apparatus is used, with which the jaw acquires absolutely regular outlines.

During the treatment, parents should ensure that their baby does not put foreign objects into his mouth.

If the disease is removed by surgerymethod, then in this case the tissues are cut, and the jaw is guided to the desired side at a certain angle. This is done so that the upper and lower teeth come into contact with each other.

After this, the bones are seated in the correct position, and fused for two months.

Consequences of this disease

If the protraction of the upper jaw has not been eradicated even in childhood, then an adult can start a lot of problems, namely:

- Psychological trauma associated with a spoiled appearance.

- Poor chewing food, which will lead to improper operation of all organs of the digestive system.

- Lisp and other disorders of the speech apparatus.

- People with the wrong position of teeth are more likely to suffer from tooth decay.

Please note that prognathia is a fairly serious disease requiring immediate treatment. So do not delay treatment in the long box, but start it right now.
