"Nagorny" (Palace of Sports): reconstruction and modern activities

In Nizhny Novgorod, a sufficient number of places,where residents can relax after a busy day or spend a fun and enjoyable weekend. One of such popular places, especially among active people, is KRK "Nagorny". The Palace of Sports was built more than 45 years ago, but, as before, does not lose its top positions in popularity among visitors of different ages.

Where is, and how to get there?

KRK "Nagorny" (Palace of Sports) is located inSoviet area. It is directly on Gagarin Avenue. The building is well visible from afar. It has a semicircular shape, and a large number of huge windows glisten on the facade. Here is an excellent transport interchange, and it will not be difficult to get there.

• By shuttle bus № т-3, т-4, т-5, т-26, т-33, т-81, т-97 and others.
• Bus number 1, 2, 12, 30, 43, 72, 85 and others.
• Trolleybuses No. 16, 21, 13.

Features of the complex development

The building was built in 1965. On its base, the hockey team Torpedo was trained and competed. Then the Palace of Sports was built at the Auto Plant, and she relocated there.

The Palace of Sports is prepared for reconstruction. This was due to the neglected state of the building and new rules in the hockey league.

According to the regulations since 2007, the teams that have enteredin the Super League, were supposed to have on its base an ice rink with a capacity of more than 5,5 thousand spectators. Therefore, the ice arena had to be expanded and improved at a rapid pace.

Construction took six months. During this time, a great deal of work was done in several large stages. In September, the renovated sports palace "Nagorny" was opened.

Modern building for sports

The project envisaged constructionseveral extensions. At the second stage of the reconstruction, one of them was completely completed. The four-storeyed component of the complex was erected from the end part. It housed:

• large sports and games room;
• library;
• medical compartment;
• A spacious conference hall with modern equipment;
• museum of sports;
• cafe and restaurant.

The second annex of the Sports Palace "Nagorny" shouldbe on the side of Gagarin Avenue. In it, according to the plan, the regional organization of trade unions should be located. This construction belongs to long-term projects and will take many years.

Activities of DS

The renovated building of "Nagorny" (Palace of Sports inLower) allows you to conduct in it competitions of different levels. This possibility is connected with the complete reconstruction of the building, which was carried out according to all international requirements.

Now here play and practice hockeyteam "Torpedo" and "Skif". Also on a regular basis in the building engaged on ice figure skaters. Experienced athletes and small future champions are preparing here.

For many years the school has been operating with great successhockey for children in the "Mountainous". The Palace of Sports organizes night skiing on the ice for the residents of the city. At the weekend, the ice rink is also open to those who wish and those who like active leisure.

On ice arenas periodically arranged brightand colorful show programs. They are played by local athletes and teams from other cities and countries. In this way, more children and youth are attracted to sports.

Lessons are held on the short track in Nagornoe. The Sports Palace in Nizhny Novgorod is fully equipped for such activities. This section is in great demand among active citizens.

During the reconstruction on the facade of the building waspainted a large oval. Then a circle was placed inside it. Thus, the human eye was formed. This symbol became the emblem of the "Mountainous". The Palace of Sports has an official website with the same logo.

This emblem is clearly visible from all the entrances to the building. In the evening, the "eye" comes to life under the light of lanterns and strictly observes people passing by and passing by.

Near the building is a large area. It often hosts concerts and other cultural events. On the basis of the complex there is a children's school of the Olympic reserve. This indicates a high level of training of children and the experience of trainers.
