Homemade generator for a small windmill

Permanent magnets, and in particular neodymium magnets, contain a huge amount of energy. This, of course, is not a perpetual motion machine, since in time any magnet is demagnetized, but its lifetime can be tens of years. For example, one kilogram of such "tools" is enough to ensure that your computer is provided with power for life. Further in the article it is considered how it is possible to make a self-made generator with the help of such magnets. The finished model will produce a current of 1 ampere per 12V battery.

Details and materials that will be needed for assembly:

  1. Neodymium magnets (2 * 5 mm) - 24 pcs.
  2. Hub from the wheel of the motoblock.
  3. Steel disc (diameter 105 mm, thickness 5 mm) - 2 pcs.
  4. Spacer sleeve (15 mm).
  5. Shaft.
  6. Epoxy resin.
  7. Enamel wire for coils (0.5 mm).
  8. Plywood 8 and 4 mm.
  9. Bearings - 2 pcs.

Very suitable for this homemade generatorfor a windmill not too large. The windmill is quite useful at the dacha or in the personal home. With it, you can save on electricity.

Build order

self-made generator
On the discs are glued magnets with alternatingpolarity. For each disc of 12 pcs. Then they are about half filled with epoxy. In this way, parts of the rotor are manufactured, which will then be put on the shaft.

In order to make a stator, to homemadeThe generator must first wind 12 coils of enamel wire. It can be taken, for example, from a kinescope of an old broken TV. Each coil should have 60 turns of wire. Then the coils need to be uncoiled with each other in sequence (beginning with start, end with end). The result is one phase.

Now a plywood mold is made forfill. A round hole is cut in a sheet of 8 mm plywood. Then, two "donuts" of different diameters are made. The larger diameter (8 mm) should coincide with the hole in the first sheet (8 mm). It is inserted into this hole, and a smaller "bagel" (4 mm) is superimposed on it. On the perimeter of the larger are the coils. Then all this is poured with epoxy resin. The next day the lower thick plywood sheet and the smaller "bagel" are removed. The result is a beautiful transparent stator on a homemade generator of frozen epoxy and 12 coils inside it.

Then you need to insert the bearings into the hub, and inthem - a shaft with a key. Then the first disk of the rotor is put on the shaft, and then the spacer sleeve (15 mm). Then the stator is fixed to the hub with 3 bolts, and after the second the rotor disk, which must rest against the spacer sleeve. The second disk is fixed in such a way that its magnets, opposite to the magnets of the first, have different polarity.

The gaps between them and the stator can be adjustedcopper bolts with nuts, placing them on both sides of the hub. Finish assembling the homemade generator on permanent magnets by installing on the protruding part of the propeller shaft of the windmill. He presses the nut against the rotor. To do this, you need to use a rover. The rotor and stator can be covered from above with a cover-cap. The easiest way to do it is to cut off the bottom of the saucepan with a part of the walls.

The generator considered is not very powerful. Using this fairly simple technology, you can make a self-made generator, which is perfect for a very small windmill. For more serious structures, a more powerful generator is needed.
