Female circumcision is a terrible tradition.

Everyone heard about male circumcision. It is often carried out for hygienic purposes, so that the microbes do not accumulate under the skin covering the glans penis. This operation is conducted in all countries, it is considered quite harmless, legal and even necessary. For example, most of the men in the US are circumcised, just like in Israel and Muslim countries. It prescribes both religion and hygiene norms.

But quite another thing, when we talk aboutfemale circumcision. And here no hygienic goals are pursued, but most likely only a tribute to traditions or religion. But here lies the deception. Although circumcision among girls is made mainly in Muslim countries, the Koran does not indicate the need to do so. But traditions, speculation, superstition - they often rule the world.

So, what is female circumcision and why is it carried out, what is the meaning of it?
Let's start with the fact that circumcision in women isdifferent. Sometimes only the clitoris is cut off, in other cases the clitoris and labia are both small and large, but that's not all. Female circumcision has the most terrible brutal form. It is called pharaoh circumcision. In this case, not only the clitoris and labia are removed, but they also sew them after circumcision, leaving only a small hole for coping with the need and for having sex in the future. And the hole is made deliberately small, considering that it will bring pleasure to the man.
Atrocities - you will say and you will be absolutely right. But nevertheless, statistics is sad. Female circumcision is widespread to this day. Even more, think about this figure: almost every day (!) In Africa circumcised almost six thousand girls. Everyday. Circumcision in women is carried out even in Europe. And they make it from Sudan, immigrants. Let it is prohibited by European law, it is made underground, or outside the country. They come with children "on vacation" to their historical homeland, conduct all the necessary procedures there and then return to Europe again. If the traditions are strong, then they are holy even for immigrants living in a European country.

In what countries is female circumcision prevalent? First of all, on the African continent, in Southeast Asia, or rather in Sudan, Egypt, Afghanistan and many others. It is noteworthy that in Egypt circumcision is considered outlawed since 1997, but "it's still there". This brutal idea was abandoned mainly by people who received higher education, but in Egypt there are few, in poor neighborhoods, almost 80% of women are circumcised. The figures are appalling, and most importantly, it shows that no legislative measures and formal prohibitions can stop this avalanche of cruelty and violence.

But not in all Muslim countries, it is necessary to givedue, circumcision is performed. For example, Saudi Arabia, the UAE does not practice this barbarous custom. As we see, it's not a matter of religion, but of hardened traditions.

What is fraught with female circumcision? The fact is that often it passes in unsanitary conditions. Almost always. Therefore, the probability of bleeding, infection of blood, complications and other terrible consequences is great. In addition, women who have undergone this procedure, give birth significantly more difficult, and the risk of complications during labor also increases from 30 to 50%, depending on how much the woman was circumcised.

Fortunately, little by little the world begins to give upthis, but traditions are being eradicated with great difficulty. Many women who have been through circumcision begin to carry out active agitation work against such barbarity. But to eradicate this terrible relic of the past is unlikely to ever be successful.
